2012 INFORMS Annual Meeting

October 14-17, 2012 - Phoenix, AZ

The 2012 INFORMS Annual Conference will be held October 14-17 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoneix, Arizona.

Gurobi Optimization will be very active at the Phoenix Conference with a technology workshop, software tutorial, technical presentation, and exhibit booth, held at various times during the conference. This is a great opportunity to learn about the latest Gurobi enhancements and how they contribute to making Gurobi an even more powerful tool for OR professionals in building and deploying models. You can learn more about the conference and register on the INFORMS conference website.

Technology Workshop Recent Developments in the Gurobi Optimizer
Presented byDr. Robert Bixby, President, CEO and Co-founder, Gurobi Optimization
Dr. Greg Glockner, Director of Engineering, Gurobi Optimization
Location Hyatt Phoenix - Phoenix East Room
Time Saturday, October 13th 12:00noon to 2:30pm
This pre-conference workshop will give an overview of recent improvements in the Gurobi Optimizer, as well as a preview of our plans for the next release. We'll review our recent 5.0 release, including a discussion of quadratic constraints, lazy constraints, and the new MATLAB and R interfaces. We'll also discuss upcoming improvements to our academic program. Finally, we'll give a preview of our planned client-server features.
Software Tutorial Gurobi Optimizer for Client-Server Applications
Presented by Dr. Greg Glockner, Director of Engineering, Gurobi Optimization
Location Convention Center, West Building room 202
Time Monday, October 15th 11:00am to 12:30pm
Client-server, multi-tier and cloud computing are popular methods in software engineering for high-volume or high-availability applications. We will discuss how this applies to optimization and see some optimization applications that can benefit from these architectures. Finally, we'll preview upcoming Gurobi features for client-server software applications.
Technical Presentation Gurobi Presolve
Presented by Dr. Robert Bixby, President, CEO and Co-founder, Gurobi Optimization
Location Convention Center, West Building room 212B
Time Tuesday, October 16th 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Presolve refers to that step in the solution of an optimization model in which, prior to the application of the actual solution algorithm, an attempt is made to simplify the underlying model. For linear programming these simplifications typically amount to reducing the size of the model; however, for mixed-integer programming the changes can be much more fundamental, producing a "strengthening" of the model, where this strengthening doesn't simply speed the solution process, but can make the difference between a model being solvable and hopeless. We will examine the effect of presolve, including the effects of some of the different key reductions as well as some of the more interesting new reductions that have been discovered over the last several years.
Exhibit Booth Gurobi Optimization
Location Exhibit Hall - Booth 25
Times Sunday, October 14th 6:30pm to 8:00pm
