This year we invited our client Orange to present an exciting optimization use case. Guillaume Boulmier, Research Engineer at Orange will present how they optimize costs and revenue on the international roaming market using Gurobi.
Presentation Abstract:
International roaming is a service that allows mobile network subscribers to continue accessing their mobile services while traveling abroad by using the resources of a local operator in the visited country. This results in a financial payment from the subscriber’s home operator to the local operator, based on the volume of roaming traffic generated and the negotiated commercial agreement.
For Orange, these costs amount to several hundred million euros per year, making the optimization of the wholesale roaming market a key business challenge.
To optimize roaming costs, Orange has developed decision-support tools based on complex linear and quadratic optimization models, which must be efficiently solved using a high-performance solver.
