More Speed, More Ways to Solve

Gurobi 13.0 is designed for users who need more speed, scale, and flexibility. It adds breakthrough capabilities—like our PDHG implementation for massive LPs, and a new nonlinear barrier method now supported—while boosting everyday performance on MIPs and MINLPs.

You’ll notice shorter run times, better control over heuristics, smarter callbacks, and more powerful solution pool tools. For nonlinear-heavy domains like energy and chemistry, this opens new possibilities. For large-scale optimization, GPU acceleration and Kubernetes autoscaling put new levels of performance and scalability in your hands.

New Features

In addition to performance gains, Gurobi 13.0 includes several exciting new features:

Gurobi Optimizer

  • Faster Core Solver – Experience on average ~16% faster solves on difficult MIP models and more than 2X faster on non-trivial MINLPs.
  • PDHG implementation – Rapidly solve large-scale LPs, with CPU and GPU* support available.
  • New Nonlinear Barrier Method – Get locally optimal solutions for nonlinear problems in even less time.**
  • Improved Heuristics – Accelerate decision making with enhancements to NoRel (now with variable hints and new stopping controls).
  • Smarter Tools – Leverage new nonlinear functions, callback improvements, solution pool attributes, and multi-objective reporting.

*Beta feature: These features are not yet intended for production use. Support is provided on a best-effort basis.
**Preview feature: These features are fully tested and supported, but may change significantly (including breaking changes in API, behavior or packaging) in future technical or major releases.

“Gurobi's advancements go beyond performance to enhance usability, appealing to both beginner and expert users.”

Gurobi Cluster Manager & Compute Server

  • Autoscaling of Compute Server Clusters – Automatically scale Gurobi Compute Server deployments on Kubernetes based on job queue metrics and node utilization.
  • Accessibility Improvements – Experience a more user-friendly, accessible web interface with the Cluster Manager’s alignment to WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Security improvements – Work securely and confidently. Compute Server and Cluster Manager now support a TLS 1.3–only cipher policy, ensuring all communications meet the latest TLS standards.

Performance Improvements

As with every major release, Gurobi continues to push the boundaries of solver performance. The following benchmark results compare Gurobi 13.0 against version 12.0 on a representative model set:
ALGORITHM SPEED-UP
Overall (>1 sec)
SPEED-UP
On Hard Models (>100sec)
LP 0.6% 3.9%
MIP 8.2% 15.9%
MIQP 5.1% 7.3%
MIQCP 13.2% 25.8%
Nonconvex MIQCP 54.7% 2.68x
MINLP 2.52x (6.34x)*
IIS 67.8% (2.01x)*

* too few ‘hard’ models to provide reliable benchmark results
