With Gurobi’s advanced algorithms, you can add complexity to your models to better represent real-world systems—and still solve them within the available time.

  • Significant speed-ups across all major problem types, achieving a 92x improvement in MILP performance since version 1.1
  • Tuned to optimize performance over a wide range of instances and applications
  • Rigorously tested for numerical stability and correctness using an internal library of more than 10,000 industry and academic models

The Gurobi R&D team continually pushes the boundaries of performance—enabling users to not only solve even more models, but solve them faster—and tackle problems once thought unsolvable.

MILP Performance Evolution

In Gurobi’s MILP benchmark suite, the latest version delivers:

  • 92x speed-up over version 1.1 in geometric mean (PAR-10) of runtimes
  • Only 245 models remain unsolved after 10,000 seconds with the latest version. The test set consists of all models that can be solved by at least one version

Time limit: 10000 sec. Intel Xeon CPU E3-1240 v5 @ 3.50GHz
4 cores, 8 hyper-threads
32 gb ram

Test set has 9423 models:
– 960 discarded due to inconsistent answers
– 2641 discarded due that none of the versions can solve
– speed-up measured on > 100s bracket: 3517 models

Nonconvex MIQCP Performance Evolution

In Gurobi’s MIQCP benchmark suite, the latest version delivers:

  • A 126x speed-up over version 9.0 in geometric mean (PAR-10) of runtimes.
  • Only 36 models remain unsolved after 10,000 seconds with the latest version. The test set consists of all models that can be solved by at least one version.

Time limit: 10000 sec. Intel Xeon CPU E3-1240 v5 @ 3.50GHz
4 cores, 8 hyper-threads
32 gb ram

Test set has 1226 models:
– 89 discarded due to inconsistent answers
– 375 discarded due that none of the versions can solve
– speed-up measured on > 100s bracket: 337 models

LP Performance Evolution

In Gurobi’s LP benchmark suite, the latest version delivers:

  • a 44x speed-up over version 1.1 in geometric mean (PAR-10) of runtimes.
  • Only 39 remain unsolved after 10,000 seconds with the latest version. The test set consists of all models that can be solved by at least one version.
  • Default settings:
    • Gurobi 1-4: dual simplex
    • Gurobi 5+: concurrent LP

Time limit: 10000 sec. Intel Xeon CPU E3-1240 v5 @ 3.50GHz
4 cores, 8 hyper-threads
32 gb ram

Test set has 2841 models:
– 254 discarded due to inconsistent answers
– 123 discarded due that none of the versions can solve
– speed-up measured on > 100s bracket: 696 models

Gurobi’s performance evolution tells just part of the story.
