For the first time, Gurobi Days is coming to Australia.

Event Structure

Day 1 – Training Day

28 April 2026

A dedicated technical training day designed for optimisation practitioners and users of Gurobi.

Sessions focus on advanced modelling techniques, solver performance, numerics, infeasibility analysis, parameter tuning, and modern workflows combining optimisation with AI and data science environments.

This is the first time Gurobi has offered a full practitioner training programme in Australia, with limited capacity to keep sessions interactive.

Target audience:
Optimisation practitioners, developers, data scientists, and technical teams building optimisation models.

Day 2 – Conference Day

29 April 2026

Conference sessions featuring customer case studies, technical presentations, and discussions on how organisations are deploying optimisation to improve operational decision-making.

Topics span modelling strategy, real-world deployments, and the role of optimisation in modern analytics and AI-driven systems.

The day concludes with an opportunity to connect with fellow attendees and speakers from across the ANZ optimisation community.

Oliver brings a wealth of experience as an innovative and results-driven product leader with over two decades of expertise in B2B software, SaaS, and AI technologies. Prior to joining Gurobi, Oliver served as Vice President of Product Management at FICO, where he led product management for Analytics/ML, GenAI, and Optimization. His leadership was instrumental in delivering cutting-edge SaaS capabilities, including high-throughput, low-latency execution of fraud models, predictive modeling software for scores, social network analysis, and mathematical optimization solvers. Before his tenure at FICO, Oliver was a member of the R&D team at Dash Optimization, where he contributed to the development of advanced mixed-integer programming algorithms. Oliver’s passion for mathematical optimization and its practical applications has been a cornerstone of his career. He has consulted on optimization projects across diverse industries and he brings experience in technical sales and teaching. He holds a doctorate in applied mathematics from the Technical University of Munich and a diploma in mathematics and computer science from the University of Cologne.

Iain Jardin has been working with customers and partners in APAC, EMEA and North America for the last 30 years. Prior to joining Gurobi Iain worked at Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Amdahl where he ran numerous business development, product management, sales and technical-sales organisations. The biggest learning from his extensive involvement in the global IT market has been that the common denominator of successful and sustainable business is healthy (human) relationships that embrace diversity and celebrate inclusion. Outside of work Iain loves Australian Football, is a keen cyclist, a developing apiarist, an aspiring artist and holds a BA Soc.Sci. in Information Management from Melbourne University. Dr. Steven Edwards completed his PhD at Monash University in the field of discrete optimization. His thesis was motivated by the scheduling of automated pathology testing systems used for the diagnosis of cancers and infectious diseases. As part of his research, he developed a modeling framework for efficiently solving large-scale optimization problems using constraint programming inspired by existing techniques in boolean satisfiability and mixed-integer programming. After completing his thesis, Steven worked briefly at the Australian Bureau of Statistics on optimization problems in data security before commencing as a Research Fellow in Operations Research at the University of Melbourne.

Dr. Andrew Perrykkad leads Gurobi's Pathfinder initiative in APJ, combining strategic vision with hands-on technical expertise in mathematical optimization. He brings over ten years of optimization and analytics consulting experience, with a PhD in Mathematics (Operations Research) from Monash University focused on advanced mixed-integer programming techniques for intermodal transportation problems.

Prior to Gurobi, Andrew led AI and data science consulting teams at Quantium, managing complex client engagements across the US, Australia, and South Africa. He architected AI-powered recommendation engines for major healthcare clients, led federal government consulting on policy reform affecting hundreds of thousands of workers, and championed optimization methodologies across the organization. Andrew excels at translating complex technical solutions into measurable business value, managing distributed teams, and building consulting practices from initial client conversations through delivery.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Andrew enjoys experimenting with the perfect martini recipe, entertaining, and spending time with his cognitive scientist wife, twins, and his giant but well-mannered Irish Wolfhound cross.

He enjoys public speaking and presenting and has hosted international webinars, workshops and technical sales conferences. Dr. Hamideh Anjomshoa

Dr. Hamideh Anjomshoa has over a decade of experience in industrial research and optimization, with a strong interest in applying Mixed-Integer Programming modelling and AI to tackle real-world challenges. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of South Australia and has delivered data science and optimization solutions across the healthcare, mining, and transport sectors. She spent more than nine years at IBM Research Australia, where she led and contributed to applied research projects in collaboration with industry partners. She later joined the University of Melbourne as an Associate Professor, serving as a Chief Investigator and Co-Theme Leader at OPTIMA — Australia’s largest research training centre focused on optimization. Most recently, she worked at St John of God Healthcare, applying advanced analytics and machine learning to support hospital operations and improve patient outcomes. Hamideh’s work has led to scientific publications, patents, and industry reports, and she has been recognised for innovation and leadership throughout her career. Outside of work, she enjoys Zumba, swimming — especially at the beach — and hiking.

Riley completed his PhD in Mathematics at the University of Newcastle (Australia) in 2015, where he developed a family of optimization models which generalize the well-known time-indexed formulation for single machine scheduling. Upon completing studies Riley celebrated, naturally, by managing a large craft beer brewpub for a couple of years. He then worked several years in supply chain logistics and across all phases of data analytics - from simulation modelling to machine learning to package development for data analysis - before returning to the world of Mathematical Optimization at Gurobi in 2023. In his spare time Riley enjoys complimenting his Pomeranian Loki, thinking about going to the gym, and getting around on two wheels (engine optional).

Simranjit received her Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2015. In her Ph.D. she worked on the topic of scheduling shutdown activities on acrs of capacitated network to maximize total throughput from the network over time. Prior to joining Gurobi, she worked as Operations Research Scientist at Dassault Systemes.  Her work focused on designing and developing algorithms for a range of combinatorial optimisation problems arising in various supply chains. In her free time, Simran loves traveling, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
