Local Nonlinear Optimization in Gurobi 13.0

In recent Gurobi releases significant effort has gone into improving the capability of the solver for global nonlinear optimization. Here we explored a new feature for Gurobi 13.0: the ability to quickly find locally optimal solutions to nonlinear problems.

In this webinar, we:

• Explained the difference between local and global optimal solutions to an optimization problem,
• Gave an overview of the methods used to find locally optimal solutions in Gurobi
• Walked through several practical examples showing how to model instances and invoke the local nonlinear solver.

Attendees will gain an understanding of when solving nonlinear problems to local optimality is useful in practice, and how to effectively use gurobipy’s API to work with nonlinear optimization models.
