BEAVERTON, Ore. – August 29, 2023 – Gurobi Optimization, LLC, the leader in decision intelligence technology, is pleased to announce the release of its “State of Mathematical Optimization 2023” report. The report, based on a survey of 394 commercial customers, provides valuable insights into the trends impacting the use and perception of mathematical optimization in the business world.

The survey reveals that the demand for operations researchers and data scientists skilled in mathematical optimization is on the rise. A significant 93% of respondents reported that the number of operations researchers at their organization was growing or remaining steady. Furthermore, 90% indicated that mathematical optimization was gaining traction or remaining steady with decision-makers at their company.

The report also highlights the increasing trend of organizations combining machine learning and mathematical optimization. A noteworthy 81% of survey respondents reported using both approaches together for at least one project, allowing for more tailored decision recommendations.

“The findings of our 2023 survey underscore the growing importance of mathematical optimization in today’s data-driven business landscape,” said Duke Perrucci, CEO of Gurobi. “We’re excited to see the increasing integration of machine learning and mathematical optimization, which opens up new possibilities for business decision-making and problem-solving.”
