Mathematical optimization has become increasingly critical as organizations face larger, more complex, and domain-specific challenges. For example, in industries such as energy, chemistry, finance, and manufacturing, some challenges involve inherently nonlinear dynamics. Linear models alone can’t always capture phenomena such as price-demand curves, diminishing returns, or physics-based relationships in power and process systems.

These nonlinear dynamics are just one part of today’s modeling landscape, but they highlight why organizations require technology that offers both flexibility and speed—optimizers that can return either globally or locally optimal solutions, depending on the application, and deliver results fast enough to support real-time or near-real-time decision making.

Gurobi 13.0, the latest version of the Gurobi Optimizer, delivers faster solves across core model types16% faster MIPs and over 2× faster MINLPsalong with new algorithms for large-scale and nonlinear problems, GPU acceleration, and cloud-native capabilities. These enhancements mark yet another step forward in Gurobi’s mission to combine performance excellence with flexibility, so you can keep solving increasingly complex problems with confidence.

Bigger Problems Call for New Approaches

Modern enterprises are tackling massive datasets, intricate constraints, and multi-objective goals—all while juggling demands for faster results and greater flexibility.

Key challenges include:

  • Increasingly Large-Scale Problems: Some linear programming problems (LPs) are now so large that new algorithmic approaches are required to accelerate compute times.
  • More Complex Modeling Requirements: As use cases expand, many organizations need an optimizer that can capture a wider range of real-world dynamics—from advanced linear and integer formulations to nonlinear relationships—while still maintaining speed and accuracy.
  • Cloud-Native Workloads: As organizations modernize their infrastructure, they expect elastic scaling to align optimization workloads with demand.

These evolving needs make it harder for organizations to run scenarios quickly and explore new problem domains with traditional approaches alone.

Gurobi 13.0: Solve Faster and Smarter

We designed Gurobi 13.0 with today’s optimization challenges in mind. We’re already known as the world’s fastest solver—and version 13.0 once again delivers performance improvements that make us even faster.

But beyond shorter run times, you’ll also experience better control over heuristics, smarter callbacks, and more powerful solution pool tools. And for large-scale optimization, GPU acceleration and Kubernetes autoscaling put new levels of performance and scalability in your hands.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s new:

  • Faster Core Optimizer: Experience ~16% faster solves on difficult mixed-integer programming (MIP) models and over to 2× faster solves on non-trivial mixed-integer nonlinear programs (MINLPs).*
  • PDHG implementation: Designed for use on either CPUs or GPUs**, our Primal-Dual Hybrid Gradient (PDHG) algorithm implementation can help you solve some extremely large LPs quickly.
  • New Nonlinear Barrier Method: A newly supported nonlinear barrier method*** enables faster solutions when a locally optimal solution (rather than a globally optimal one) is sufficient.
  • Improved Heuristics: Enhancements like NoRel with variable hints and new stopping controls help users find better solutions earlier, further accelerating decision-making.
  • Smarter Tools: Improvements to callbacks, new nonlinear functions, solution pool attributes, and multi-objective reporting offer greater transparency and control.
  • Kubernetes Operator: Automatically scale Compute Server workers up or down with configurable logic and graceful scale-down, ensuring efficiency in cloud environments.
  • Accessibility Improvements: Our Cluster Manager now aligns with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, making all interactions with Gurobi’s web interfaces more inclusive and easier to use.
  • Security Enhancements: Both Compute Server and Cluster Manager now support a TLS 1.3–only cipher policy, ensuring all communications use the latest TLS standard.
